It's October and I'm already in the Christmas Spirit. When I saw 'The Angel of Forest Hill' on the Blogging for Books website (thank you for another free book in exchange for an unbiased review!), I looked no further. Cindy Woodsmall is famous for her sweet, simple, enchanting Amish fictions and this one is just the right size for a snowy weekend read. It's small (208 pages) and an easy read. Rose & Joel in what sounds like an old fashioned arranged marriage - they married so Rose could mother Joel's motherless children (his wife died in childbirth). Of course, their innocent marriage grows to true love - sort of just what you'd expect. :) Most Amish stories include the things you'd expect (homemade cooking, quiet nights, sleigh rides & dances) - and are good, wholesome, clean stories. You'll get what you expect - which is just what I wanted. Thanks Blogging for Books! |
