I've been a little disappointed with a few books I've chosen to review lately - but this book has exceeded my expectations! Is it because my expectations have been lowered due to the other books I've received? I don't think so. I was hoping for a book with fun pictures and simple facts to read with my 4 year old - and that's exactly what I received. I see this as a fun coffee table book, something Everett and I can flip through many times before we memorize the facts (me more times than him). Thanks Blogging for Books and Maja Safstrom - what a fun, intellectual book to add to our collection. |

Many would say I'm old fashioned. Too conservative. Old. Just not up with the times. I don't watch the news. I don't watch R rated movies. And I don't read books with lots of swear words. I can deal with the occasional cuss word - but typically in the first or second chapter you can get a very good feel for how the rest of the book will read. 'Evicted' did not start on a great foot for me - I didn't make it far.
Please, please, book reviewers - add a quick box to the back of all books that rates them. I want to know if there's nudity, explicit language, etc - the info that goes into me through my eyes is just as damaging as what goes in through my ears. 'Evicted' is stories of poverty level Americans and their experiences managing rental properties of trying to live in them - I should have expected the language but didn't. Maybe it is my fault. Please don't read this book before requesting a PG version from the author. Thanks Blogging for Books for another book to review. |
