I haven't had a chance to try the stitches since I don't have any projects going at the moment, but I will definitely refer to this book when I want to start embroidering dish towels (in February that's what I thought I'd give others for Christmas. Hm.) or work on quilts or use a better approach to mending clothes. Thanks for pushing me to the next level, Blogging for Books!
I sew with a straight stitch, zig zag, and....that's about it. I'd love to learn more about what my machine can do and the best way to do it! Super Stitches Sewing will be fun to dive in to and put to action. 57 machine stitches, 18 hand stitches, along with detailed tutorials should help me get moving.

Foreign travel with a great friend - it's a dream come true, right? Two friends share their adventure, shortcomings, and lives with you in this easy to read novel.
There are other Sisterchicks novels to read, but this story did not inspire me to jump into any of them. A story based on dialogue mainly between two friends, I had a hard time staying hooked. The story-line and plot were decent, but I simply didn't see this as a page-turner and won't be recommending it to others. Thanks Blogging for Books for this free copy to read and review! Faking Grace
By Tamara Leigh Maizy Grace is a ‘cultural Christian’, a gal unsure about her future and doing what she needs to get by. A product of our culture, she buys a book to solve her problems and give her answer ( instead of turning to the Bible): The Dumb Blonde’s Guide to Christianity. She lands a new part-time job and tries to follow the guidelines in her new book, while her integrity and all the rules are out the window with a new turn of events at her old part-time job. After the first few chapters of this story, I wasn’t so sure about reading the rest of the book. It was cheesy. I skipped any excerpts written from the fake “Dumb Blonde’s Guide” – not bothering to read them. I don’t think they added to the story and were easily left behind. Once I got ½ way through the book, it was easy to finish – not an intellectual read by any means. I will probably donate the book to the church or a friend but won’t be raving about it. Thanks for the free book Blogging for Books! I didn't care for this one, but I'll keep reading! Redeeming Love A Clearing in the Wild
Jane Kirkpatrick A Clearing in the Wild is part of a trilogy – I will not be reading the subsequent books. The novel was okay, slightly entertaining, but overall dry and pretty predictable. My attention was not grabbed but I kept turning the pages for this review. Emma is brave, courageous, and stubborn, which is how she ends up travelling pregnant cross country with a small group of men to start a new community. Equally stubborn is her husband and the town leader, who both initially try to keep Emma in her societal place as a submissive, quiet wife. Emma and Christian end up on an adventure to start a new colony in a setting that is foreign and exciting to them. Thank you Blogging for Books for this book! I received this book for free in exchange for a review. www.bloggingforbooks.com North of Hope
A Memoir Shannon Huffman Polson I received an advance reading copy of “North of Hope” from Zondervan for free in exchange for a book review. Thanks Zondervan! I had high expectations for this book, perhaps a little too high. What sounded like a story of an adventurous, soul healing journey, quickly turned into a story I simply skimmed to get to the interesting portions. Shannon’s parents died a terrible death – mauled by a‘tame’ grizzly in the Alaskan wilderness. The shock and horror led to depression and void. Shannon decides to ‘reenact’ the last journey her parents made with a friend and family member, not knowing why she needs to do this or what she will experience or encounter. My assumption was that most of the story would be centered on Shannon’s rafting wilderness rafting journey. Assumptions are usually wrong. Shannon details many events, feelings, and stories from her life before the tragedy and after. Her relationship with her father was very strong before his death and there is much pain and grief she needs to work through. Honestly, I did not find the backtracking and soul searching interesting or meaningful to read. Much of it is told without much direction. Shannon’s faith is a part of the journey, but even the feelings and thoughts associated with that were not interesting to read. I would have liked more information about the journey, her faith, and God’s healing hand. I did not realize this book was a series. I obviously haven't read the first book in the series. Oops.
I requested this ebook thinking it sounded interesting, although this is not my normal genre of books. It wasn't my favorite. I had a hard time getting in to the book and staying hooked on and interested in the story and plots. Possibly this was because I didn't really know the characters (without reading the first book in the series), to give the author the benefit of the doubt. If you enjoy kings, war, and a little romance, dive in. If you don't, choose another book. Goodbye to 'Goodbye to Yesterday'
Wanda E. Brunstetter If you are looking for a good review for this short "book", I recommend stopping right here! In Goodbye to Yesterday, newlyweds Meredith and Luke are having a rough year. Luke is out of work and the savings account is slowly diminishing. When Luke gets a call about a possible job opportunity out of state, he gets on the next possible bus to learn his new trade. On the way, he is left injured badly and walletless. That is where the story ENDS. This small book took me about 40 minutes to finish, I skimmed parts of it that were repetitive (boring), and it ended in the middle of a crisis! The book is Part 1 of 6 in the Discovery series – but really it’s just a part of a book, not a part of a series! I will not be holding my breath to read the next “part” of the “series”…. I was given "Goodbye to Yesterday" from Handlebar Publishing in exchange for a book review. Thank you Handlebar Publishing! Secretly Smitten
Smitten– a delightful, small, love stricken town. Love has struck one family in particular, three daughters, a mother, and sweet, stubborn grandma. Written by four authors, this series-in-one was interesting, fun to read, and semi-predictable –an easy let-your-mind-go, Saturday afternoon read (longer than you can read in an afternoon though)! I received this book for free in exchange for a review. I was not aware that this was a 4 part book before I started reading the e-book and noticed it was 600 pages long! I had never read this type of story before -it was interesting. I loved the first author, the second wasn’t my favorite, third was fun, and the fourth was about as good as the first. The love stories are cute and heart-warming. Once I started reading, it was hard to put the story down. Granted, my friends laughed when I told them I was reading “Secretly Smitten”, but I pressed on and finished the book within a few weeks. It’s a fun read and I would recommend it to you! There are great God lessons interwoven in each story – the greatest Love of all! Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com <http://BookSneeze®.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part255 <http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_03/16cfr255_03.html> : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.” What a fun novel! Charlotte Beck and Viscount Hambly are young, unwed,
and both in need of a 'convenient' marriage. After a long engagement, this 'convenient' marriage that inevitably turns into an inconvenient commitment. Although a little slow to start (at least for me), this book picks up and takes off. The main characters grabbed my attention early on and my heart by the end. They made me shake my head because of their stubborness but nodd with approval when their love let through. This is a fun book and I definitely recommend it to you!
