Go Ahead & Like It by Jacqueline Suskin
Hm. I thought this would be an interesting read. I guess interesting is maybe the right word. Jacqueline looks for beauty and something to like in all situations, whether environment, food, people, emotions, and so on related. She's got a good attitude. She's positive. She seems real.
The pictures in the book are old fashioned - but not fun old fashioned. They were a little out there (crazy) and 'artistic' (too artistic for me I guess). We often overplay things - overemphasize or make things over the top - in order to stand out and impress our audience with braveness and newness. I don't appreciate that method. I don't like we when do things for attention or to be different for the sake of being different. I feel like Jacqueline has done this, maybe without trying to? There's a fine line between expressing ourselves and doing things non-genuinely for attention/wow-factor.
I didn't love this book. I am going to pass it on to someone who might like it more? I like the idea of finding the positive in life, pausing to put things on paper (so calming), and looking inside ourselves - but I didn't love how the book came together.
Thanks Blogging for Books for another free book to read/review! Keep 'em coming!
