Don't be surprised if I re-gift this life-changing story to you! Lopez Lomong sucked me into this beautiful story about a simple life dramatically altered by circumstances out of his control. At 6 years of age, the rebel army takes Lopez from his family and into their camp. After an escape that can only be explained as a miracle of God, Lopez grows up in a refugee camp, finding joy in one of the only things providing a mental escape – running. From Sudan to America, Lopez continues to run, grow in faith, and change the lives of those around him.
If I have anything to say about it, my husband will be reading this book next! This story is yet another simple reminder of how much we have as Americans, how little we have to suffer, and how much we have to be thankful for. It is a call to action. It has spurred me to think about poverty and my lack of poverty. The way I view our home, jobs, and family is forever changed.
Thanks Thomas Nelson!
