Did you get the videos to work? Let me know and I'll post more!
Nana has officially started watching Everett during the weeks! It is wonderful for us and for them. The only downside is that George leaves the house at 6:45, so we pull Everett out of bed, feed and change him - only getting to see him for about 1/2 an hour. It is worh it!
Work has been slow for me. I have a hard time staying motivated some days! :) That's why there are videos posted, I am in charge of financial things, boxes of new things are shipped to the house! I did get a raise a few weeks ago - my employers treat us very well. I think I will be here for awhile. George got to go on a 12 mile hike with his friend last weekend...and got paid for it! Work needed someone to go open a gate in the wilderness, and he volunteered to do the work on a Saturday. They had a good time but were exhausted when they got home! We are off to Havre for a wedding this weekend - one of George's high school friends is tying the knot. Should be a fun weekend, but tiring! We stay with Micky and Heather, and they have three kiddos too! Full house! We're both back to work full-time and Everett is in day care - sad, but it does feel good to have a routine again. It's nice to be in the new apartment - we have more room, and a lot of stuff! We are realizing how much we've accumulated, how much sewing stuff I have, and how much we can get rid of. We hope to widdle things down in the coming months to make our home simple and comfy!
Mom was here for the long weekend - wonderful to have her here of course! If only we could have planned our vacations better and spread out our time together. I was in MN for two weekends and then mom was here the next weekend. We had RAIN for a good 3 days. Mom didn't get a chance to wear more than her pink Alaska sweatshirt. We cooked delicious food though - Chinese two nights, Greek food Sunday afternoon, and went to a friend's for dinner on Monday. We're working on the leftovers in the fridge still! I haven't been able to talk Everett into waking only once during the night. His second feeding is around 4 or 5, and I would love to stretch it out to 6. We try to give him a pacifier and coax him back to sleep - which doesn't usually work! H We are back from a wonderful trip "home" to Minnesota! George and I loved being home to show off little Everett, spend time with family and friends, and relax at the cabin. Traveling seemed hard on the little guy - he didn't sleep well at night or take good naps, but the first night back in Montana he only woke up ONCE to eat! He was up for about two hours (one with me, one with George), but what a blessing to get a few hours of sleep! I hope this schedule becomes the norm.
We have a busy week! George and I will move into our new apartment tomorrow and Thursday, mom flies in Thursday already, and hopefully the weekend will be spent hiking, at the farmer's market, and relaxing! Mom will be here until Tuesday morning early. It is hard to get back into work mode! I have taken a lot of time off with Everett and hope to build up my PTO for the rest of the year. My next extended vacation may not be until next summer, and I hope to spend a lot of time at the cabin if possible! George's new job is going well - he's designing a drain field for a private septic tank. Larry Novak thinks it's a "poopy" first project! Three degrees....George has graduated again! George finished his final presentation today for his Civil Engineering degree, presenting in front of a panel of engineers from across the country, including an internship boss from Florida! We celebrated today with cake at his work, tomorrow will will go to a brunch at Carroll, and hopefully we will have a BBQ over Memorial weekend! Lots to celebrate....school, new job, and Everett!
I am finishing up my second week of work. It's alright - hard to get back in the swing of things, but grateful to have a good job of course. I miss both of my guys while at work, but I can't wait to be in our new apartment and be able to walk Everett to "baby work" starting in August. We have our first weekend without homework! Hopefully we can all sleep in a little (I may have George feed Everett at one of the night feedings), sit in the sun (it's supposed to rain), and pack our bags for the trip HOME! Montana is home now, but Minnesota will really always feel like home! We picked a good time to have a baby! And make a lot of changes. We have been busy packing, working, George has school, getting ready for vacation, lining up child care....you name it, we're doing it! But it feels great - our new apartment will be a three bedroom, and I hope to clean up all our boxes of STUFF! It's amazing how much STUFF we all have!
Everett spends the days with Ardis from church, who has had 26 kids in her home over the years, mostly foster children. She is WELL qualified and Everett has a great time there! I found child care for Everett come August - and I can walk to work! He will be blocks away, so I can also visit on lunch hours to be with my little man! What a blessing. Did I mention that child care is not cheap? Well worth it though to have Everett! Well....I start work on Monday. So sad. I work for two weeks, and then am taking two weeks off for our trip to MN! It will be a nice way to break in going back to work. It will be sad to not be at home with Everett, but once we all adjust to the routine, it will just be life.
We are moving into a new apartment Memorial weekend! Three bedroom - close to DQ and multiple casinos :) What more could we ask for? We have packed up small things and will be moving large things soon. It will be so nice to have Everett in his very own room, hopefully leading to better sleep for all! George took the Fundamentals of Engineering exam on Saturday. He had been studying for months and did well. We'll get the results the end of June, and George is happy to have a little free time again! Everett is sleeping - I am going to lay down too! Feeling Easter has come and gone! Mom was out for the weekend (Sat and Sun - two full days) and we had a great time. Angie and Heather threw me a baby shower on Saturday and Everett was dedicated at church the same night. It was a busy weekend at Kim & Oren's home - I think I held Everett only to change him before he was taken to be held/adored! Nice to give my arms/ears a break, of course.
Next week is my last week home from work. It will be hard to adjust into the full-time working mother role! We have great childcare lined up through the end of summer and will be moving out of our apartment this month. George starts his new job following our trip home in May, providing he passes his classes and graduates :) The summer will be a blur!! We are hoping to hike a lot and enjoy the outdoors on the weekends. Everett is possibly starting to smile - we see a hint of one now and again. He is sleeping alright at night. We figured out that he sleeps better when the room is dark (vs. with a lamp on). Cloth diapers have been going great (minus a few mishaps - Everett's diaper was around his ankles one morning and about 5 layers were soaked!). He is napping at the moment, so I am off to lay down for a minute too! Everett officially survived two whole weeks with us - as long as we make it to two MONTHS, we three will be traveling to Minnesota! We plan to be home May 10-21 (George can only stay until the 14th or so).
Everett is up to around or over 7 pounds again (after being down to 6 at his one week appointment) - what a relief! We have started using a pacifier when necessary - which is often enough. He has been sleeping alright at night but is restless in the morning hours. George was offered a job in Helena and will most likely be accepting it! The only reason he won't accept it is if he gets an interview for a state job he applied for. We went to lunch to celebrate on Saturday - it's an amazing relief for us THREE! Happy Saint Patty's Day! We made it a whole week! It has been a busy, but fun week. Labor went as well as I could have hoped for. We went to the hospital at 12:30 pm, and I was sure we would be sent home, but we were admitted and had a baby 5 hours later! Labor wasn't much fun, but I've heard it can be much, much worse.
Everett (I am still not used to calling him by his name...he has been 'baby' or 'it' for awhile!) grew in age, but not in size. He was 7 lbs 4 ozs at birth, but at his appointment yesterday he is just 6 lbs. The doc was not in the least worried. He should gain weight every week now (3 or 4 ozs a week). Everett did not sleep great for the first few nights, but now he is eating better and sleeping great. I fed him at 10, 1:30, and 5:30 last night - definietly could be worse. George helps a ton with burping, diaper changing, and just cuddling. He's a great dad already! We are enjoying being home a lot and not working! I am feeling great - and today I will start working out again! I am going to try an easy level of a Jillian Michaels video - no promises. We'll see how it goes! |
