Everett has been barking a lot lately. He hears them outside, sees them in books or behind fences, just barks for the fun of it - it's wonderful! But we are not going to get a dog anytime soon (or ever).
George and I had our first full day together childless last weekend! What a refreshing day. Kayaking in the rain, winning a little at the casino, dinner at Chili's, and games with friends. Makes us wonder why we chose to have kids in the first place? Or what we did with our free time before Everett? Nothing important, that's what! I was moved to our new building at work (Intermountain). It's wonderful. I get my own office, don't have to do the little front desk duties, really like the staff up here, and have been much busier. It's a sort of step up because I was very limited in what I could accomplish at our school location. And I have lots of stores to go shopping at lunchtime - that is NOT George's favorite part! Everett is walking as of last weekend! He is getting pretty adventurous and brave. He's not content crawling anymore. It is so much fun to see him learning how to use those sea legs!
He is tall enough to reach the edge of the table and beyond. Our plates and bowls are targets. Putting him down to sleep and nap has become a breeze! We survived the "war zone" first year and are cruising for now. He still naps twice a day, which is nice for us! The weather is almost getting nice enough to where we can play outside. It will be hard to get him inside once we start playing outside. George and I are doing great. Just working, helping out at middle school youth group, I am busy with Bible Study Fellowship - nothing too exciting! I have sold a few things via facebook around town, some just stuff we needed to get rid of, some has been things I've sewn! It's exciting to know that people will pay for the things I make! Expect homemade gifts for Christmas! I haven't written for awhile because there isn't much to write! We have settled into a great routine and the weeks go by so fast! I am home Friday-Monday with Everett (and George on the weekends of course!), and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday go by so fast. By the time we get home around 5, we have one hour to play, give Everett a bath, and get him in bed by 6:15 or so. He has been putting himself to sleep usually and sleeping great (we weaned him from eating during the night - so wonderful). It feels amazing to be getting lots of uninterrupted sleep!!
We are hoping to visit Amber, Kendall, and the rest of the O'Rourke gang President's day weekend! George and I have Monday off, and of course there is no school for the boys. Amber has to work a lot, but hopefully Everett can pull her out of bed at 6:30 to play :) He's crawling...He's pulling himself up...He's eating table foods...He's getting two more top teeth (for a total of 6 teeth)!
We are having fun now! Everett has been doing great lately. He had a check-up last week and the doctor said there are no concerns. Everett has been coughing a lot for the last 4-5 months, but we have asked about it and the doctors do not think there is a problem. They hope it will resolve itself as he grows and develops more (hopefully by 1 year). Besides eggs and dairy products, we are starting to feed him a bit of table food. It is easier/quicker to feed him pureed foods, so we typically do a combo of the easy/fast foods and some foods he needs to chew a bit more. He's mastered eating cheerios and crackers - which makes dinner time easier for George and I. We distract him with the snacks while we eat dinner. He has been sleeping good - 6:30 is a typical bed time and he wakes between 5:30 and 7. He still eats once a night, so we're hoping to somehow trick him out of that habit and alter his internal schedule :) Everett takes two good naps a day also, which is nice for me when we are home Friday-Monday! I like my quiet time. I usually sew (but my machine is in the shop right now), cook, or do dishes while he sleeps. Everett is great and playing by himself, usually. He is content to crawl around, pull himself up on bookshelves, the couch, kitchen chairs, etc. He loves trying to play with power cords and try to get into the bathroom when we accidentially leave the door open! I keep trying to write June or July on paperwork - not October!! Everett and I are spending the day at home - I am loving my new schedule! I have two full days off each week, which is unreal. I hope to be able to keep this schedule for years!
Everett is going great. He has two tiny teeth - I will try to get a picture of them soon, but he isn't too cooperative thus far! He is getting over a cold that kept him up a little at night, which kept me up a little at night of course. The little guy gets to eat fruits or veggies for dinner now - so far just bananas, apples, and yams. He enjoys them all and is always looking for more when they're gone! We will probably start doing rice cereal in the mornings too since he's a growing boy! I started a wishlist for Christmas for the three of us. There's not much we need but there are a few wants :) http://amzn.com/w/1IAM0HMLECTQ1 Mom bought her plane ticket out for Christmas - I can't wait! Are you going to join her Missie?? :) Everett will start real day care on Wednesday of this week! It has been great having Nana watch him, of course, but now that he will be in day care, I will get to see him at least an hour more a day during the week! George and Everett have been leaving by 6:45 in the mornings, and now I will leave the house with Everett at 7:30 to walk him to daycare. I can't wait!
The summer will be over soon - and I am ready for a break in the heat. It has been in the 90s for a month, which is very hot for Montana (I know Aunt Kimmy - I shouldn't complain about a month of heat!!). I can't wait to open the windows and let the fall air fill the house. Today is my 28th birthday - and I had a great day! Woke up to blueberry pancakes ready at 6:10 (poor George is going to bed early tonight), got Everett ready for Nana's (he may have peed on the floor and I may have stepped it....multiple times), had a wonderful lunch from my coworkers and bosses, and am ready to head home in a few minutes! There's an offer from Angie for Taco del Sol and possibly Dairy Queen tonight - hard to pass up! Thanks to all for the birthday wishes and gifts!
I work in a 4 employee office - and we are down to 3 as an employee left in May. As of next week we will be down to 2! It has been very busy the past few days - lots of jobs to fill - but hopefully we can hire another fabulous employee here! Lots of change though - I have seen 4 people leave our small office in the past year....but I don't think it's because of me! Only two more weeks of daycare at Nana's house and then Everett is in a daycare just a few blocks from my work. I am VERY excited to be able to visit during lunch time and walk to/from work with him! Where did June go? It seems like our weeks center around getting Everett to daycare, working, getting home, feeding us and Everett, getting him to sleep, cleaning the house, and getting ourselves to sleep. The nights seem too short!
George and I are taking the little guy swimming tomorrow for the first time! It won't really be swimming I guess, just floating - but we hope he loves it, of course!
It's been a good week but I am ready for the weekend. Everett has gone to bed at 7 the past few nights, so I am looking forward to spending more time with him. We're going to a 1-year birthday party tonight, swimming tomorrow, and hopefully a hike on Sunday! There's a lot of hikes I want to do - I just hope I'm in good enough shape for them. I always slow George down, no matter what shape I'm in! |
